Preparing for the Hobby Progress Challenge

Last week finally saw the end of Romulan project as, having already gotten them most of the way to completion, I was able to quickly finish the job and get them crossed off my list. To do this, I simply followed up on the work from the prior two weeks by ... For the Romulan minis, applying a highlight of Zandri dust on the regular Romulans, obviously avoiding the deepest crevices of the skin. I followed this up with an edge highlight of Kislev Flesh. Then applying an edge highlight of Fenrisian Grey to their hair. Next I moved onto Commander Sela, applied another layer of Kislev Flesh, similar to the Zandri Dust highlight Then I added an edge highlight of Flayed One Flesh to her most raised points. For Sela's hair, I added a layer of Screaming Skull. Following it up with an edge highlight of Wraithbone. Finally, I finished the bases I had been working on by  continuing to apply Khorne Red. Lastly, I used Warpstone Glow to highlight the name plates. With that...

Week two of my new writing process and I continued where I left off from last week, as I continued working on the Romulan Away Team from Star Trek Away Missions. This week, I worked as follows? Applied Balthasar Gold to the weird necklace thing that Romulans seem to wear. Used Leadbelcher on the Romulan Disruptors and their Tricorders Applied Zandri Dust for all Romulan skin (except Sela) Sela's skin was given a base colour (3 coats) of Kislev Flesh Sela's hair received 3 coats of Wraithbone The rest of the Romulan hair had a touch up of Abaddon Black (also used a dot of this for the eyes) Then I applied several washes; Nuln Oil on the metals and Romulan Skin, Reikland Fleshshade on Sela's skin and Iyanden Yellow (a contrast more than a wash) on Sela's hair Applied a second wash of Agrax Earthshade on the metal Drybrushed the brass with Sycorax Bronze followed by Runefang Steel Finally, I drybrushed the silver with Ironbreaker In between all of these other step...

Therefore, I thought I'd take a que from the Hammer My Backlog blog (which I'd recently discovered) and discuss my hobby journey on a weekly (or bi-weekly) basis rather than by project. And what better time to start than at the beginning of a new project. About 18 months ago, I picked up Star Trek Away Missions, a tabletop miniatures skirmish game which works in a similar vein to Warhammer Underworlds. Now, the accompanying miniatures (which are all designed with this heightened reality vibe that has been controversial but I really vibe with) have all been painted, but last Christmas, I received two additional expansions, including the Romulan Expansion team. In truth, I've been subtly working on this collection of miniatures for the past couple ...
