Total Star Trek week!
Week two of my new writing process and I continued where I left off from last week, as I continued working on the Romulan Away Team from Star Trek Away Missions.
This week, I worked as follows?
- Applied Balthasar Gold to the weird necklace thing that Romulans seem to wear.
- Used Leadbelcher on the Romulan Disruptors and their Tricorders
- Applied Zandri Dust for all Romulan skin (except Sela)
- Sela's skin was given a base colour (3 coats) of Kislev Flesh
- Sela's hair received 3 coats of Wraithbone
- The rest of the Romulan hair had a touch up of Abaddon Black (also used a dot of this for the eyes)
- Then I applied several washes; Nuln Oil on the metals and Romulan Skin, Reikland Fleshshade on Sela's skin and Iyanden Yellow (a contrast more than a wash) on Sela's hair
- Applied a second wash of Agrax Earthshade on the metal
- Drybrushed the brass with Sycorax Bronze followed by Runefang Steel
- Finally, I drybrushed the silver with Ironbreaker
- In between all of these other steps, started also applying Khorne Red to the bases around the divets, to reflect a Warbird's carpet (you've no idea how difficult it was to find the colour of the carpet).
That now leaves a few highlights to the various faces and hair, as well finishing the bases as the final steps of painting these miniatures, things I hope to have painted early into next week.
That said, painting Star Trek was not the only thing I did this week as, after almost twenty months, I finally got to play Star Trek Away Missions. Playing as the Borg, I faced off against a member of my local wargaming club as they played as Riker's Federation team, eventually beating me by 175 points to 100. It was actually a fun game which, while I initially tried to play it like it was Warhammer in trying to kill Minis, I realised that it made more sense to try and focus on completing the mission cards which you received in your hand.
I just hope that I'll be able to play it again in the very near future and maybe use this almost complete Romulan team to do it.
